Soldier Nephew Of Col. Stubbs Dies
Sad news was received here yesterday by Col. and Mrs. J. B. Stubbs with the notification that their nephew, Captain Edward Carroll Cissell, had passed away suddenly at Camp Meade, Maryland.
But 22 years of age, the young man had won the signal honor of a captain’s commission, and was waiting for the call that would take him overseas.
He was the son of the late G. O. B. Cissell and the late Catherine Stubbs Cissel, both of whom passed away when Edward Carroll Cissell was a young child. The mother was a sister of Col. Stubbs, and because of the young man’s early bereavement in the loss of his parents, more than the feeling of an uncle toward a nephew existed between the Colonel and the boy.
