August Geber, convicted of the murder of a man named Hartman in San Francisco in 1905 and sentenced to be hanged, died at San Quentin last Sunday of pneumonia. The records of Geber’s trial were destroyed in the fire of 1906. He appealed, and in 1910 Judge Dunne re-sentenced him to the gallows. In 1913 Governor Johnson commuted his sentence to life.
