MARY M. SCOTT
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary M. Scott, a longtime San Rafael resident, will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church in San Rafael.
Mrs. Scott died Thursday at her home after a brief illness. She was 89.
She was born in Germany and moved to Japan with her family at the age of 11. She had lived in the Orient for more than 40 years. During World War II, she was interned by the Japanese in Shanghai.
Mrs. Scott had lived in Marin for 37 years, living first in Greenbrae in 1948 before moving to San Rafael. She was a homemaker.
Her husband, Restel O. Scott, died in 1976. A son, Charles H. Gunn, and a daughter, Darlo Louie, also died previously.
She is survived by two daughters, Alva Parnow of San Rafael and Lita Horton of Van Nuys; a son, Robert W. Gunn of San Marcos, San Diego County; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Recitation of the rosary will be at 7:30 tonight at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael. Burial will be at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery in San Rafael.
The family prefers that contributions be made to Hospice of Marin or a favorite charity.
