MATTHEW B. CLAHAN
A memorial Mass for Matthew B. Clahan, a 14-year-old Tomales boy, will be celebrated at 12:30 p.m. Friday at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Petaluma.
Matthew died Sunday in Napa when he was stricken while on a hunting trip.
He was born in Santa Rosa, but had been reared in Tomales and attended local schools. He was to have entered his freshman year at Tomales High School this month.
Matthew was an avid skier, golfer, hunter, baseball player and also enjoyed backpacking and fishing. He recently received the outstanding sportsmanship award at his school.
He was a member of the Church of the Assumption in Tomales, the Tomales 4-H Club, the senior baseball league of Sebastopol and the K. V. Gun Club.
He is survived by his parents, James and Marianne Clahan of Tomales; a sister, Maureen Clahan of Tomales; and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Rattenberry of San Rafael.
His brother, Christopher Clahan, died in 1980.
Friends may call at the mortuary from 5 to 9 this evening.
Private burial will be at Tomales Catholic Cemetery.
