Drug Fiend Suicides – Tired Of Life

An unidentified man about 50 years of age committed suicide last Saturday at Woodacre by hanging himself. The body was discovered a few yards off the main road by two woodchoppers, who immediately reported their grewsome (sic) find to Coroner Sawyer. Rigid investigation by the Coroner failed to bring to light anything that would reveal the man’s identity. The body was well dressed, but in a pocket of the coat was found an outfit such as is used by a drug fiend.

It is believed that the man, becoming despondent through use of morphine, sought surcease in death. He had arranged a rope to a low limb, placed his head in the noose, and fallen forward. Death was due to strangulation, not to broken vertebra. The remains were buried Tuesday at the expense of the county.
