Former Sheriff Of Marin Dies
Captain Greenville Watson, sheriff of Marin county in the early 70s, died last week at his home near Guerneville, where he had lived for thirty years. Watson is well remembered by the older generation in this county. At the time of his tenure of office here he lived on a ranch on San Antonio Creek. He was nearly 90 years of age. Watson served one term, and then was defeated by James Tunstead by less than 10 votes. He was a veteran of the Civil War, having organized a company of the Fourth Iowa Infantry. He was buried in a picturesque cemetery on the top of a hill which overlooked miles and miles of the country where he had been accustomed to move.
