JOHN E. RODGERS

John E. Rodgers, a native of Marin County, died Saturday, Aug. 29, 1987, at the San Rafael Convalescent Hospital. He was 76.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Raphael’s Church.

Mr. Rodgers, who was born in Nicasio, had lived in San Rafael since 1927. He was a 40-year member of Marin (St. Raphael’s) Council No. 10, Young Men’s Institute.

Mr. Rodgers, who as a child had contracted polio, at one time worked as a bag boy for the original Safeway store on A Street in San Rafael. He also worked as a school crossing guard at D and Bayview Streets in San Rafael, as a parking lot attendant for the Blumenthal Theater, and as a parking lot attendant for Crocker Bank in San Rafael.

He is survived by his brother, Francis Rodgers of San Rafael.

The rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. today at Keaton’s Mortuary in San Rafael.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Young Men’s Institution Educational Foundation, 50 Oak St., San Francisco.

Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in San Rafael.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the son of the late Frank and Caroline Rodgers, and brother of the late Alice R. Trainer.
