Local Man’s Mother Passes To Beyond
Mrs. Lydia S. Spencer, mother of F. W. Spencer of San Rafael, passed away in San Francisco last Friday at the advanced age of 87 years.
Born of an old New England family in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1830, she went with her husband not long after marriage to the Hawaiian Islands, where for years they lived, her husband being engaged in the conduct of the Hilo Sugar Plantation. She had lived in San Francisco for many years.
The deceased is survived by three children, of which F. W. Spencer is the only son. The daughters, widowed, are Mrs. James A. Gosway, of San Francisco, and Mrs. Dennis Spencer, of Napa.
The funeral was held in San Francisco Monday and burial was made in Cypress Lawn cemetery.
