JACK G. P. LUCAS

A memorial service for Jack G. P. Lucas, a retired waiter and a 25-year resident of Mill Valley, will be Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church, Mill Valley.

Lucas died Thursday at a local hospital after an illness of six years. He was 76.

He was a native of Texas who moved to San Francisco in 1936.

He worked as a waiter and bartender for more than 50 years and was a member of Hotel and Restaurant Bartenders and Employees Local 2 of San Francisco. He worked for 25 years at the Mark Hopkins Hotel in San Francisco until 1964. In recent years, Lucas tended bar at private parties in Marin.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle Lucas of Mill Valley; two sons, James Lucas of San Mateo and Jack D. Lucas of Connecticut; a daughter, Carol Cochran of Daly City; two brothers, Ace Lucas of Texas and Jason Lucas of Indiana, and one grandchild.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the Jack Lucas Memorial Fund in care of the First Baptist Church of Mill Valley.
