KATHRYN NUTE
Kathryn Nute died peacefully on March 7th, 2001, at age 93. Kathryn was devoted to her family and was an inspiration to all who knew her. She was born in Mt Shasta, California and graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 1931 with a teaching credential. Her first teaching job was in the small logging town of McCloud, and she later moved to Hanford to continue teaching. She met and married Warren Nute and later became an indispensable partner in the firm he founded, Nute Engineering. They lived in San Rafael for 60 years. At Warren's death, she endowed a research scholarship fund at Stanford University in his honor, which has aided promising Engineering Graduate Students for over 20 years. She was an avid reader who loved to sew for her grandchildren and entertain in her home. Kathryn was a member of AAUW, Marin Mineral Society and Zonta. She is survived by her son, W. Edward Nute of San Rafael, her daughter, Barbara Kyser of Los Altos, four grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Donations to your favorite charity may be made in lieu of flowers.
