BETTY WILHITE
Private family services will be held for Betty Wilhite, 77, a 20-year resident of Belvedere.
She died Saturday at her home after a long illness.
A native of Kingston, Ontario, Canada, she was a homemaker.
She was raised in England, but spent much of her youth traveling with her father, primarily in Africa. He invented the Quonset hut as well as a variety of mining equipment.
Mrs. Wilhite moved to San Francisco as a young woman, where she met and married her late husband, James Wilhite. He died last July.
The couple moved to Belvedere in 1960.
She was a member of the Marin County Audubon Society, the Sierra Club, Planned Parenthood and many other organizations.
She is survived by a son, Peter Wilhite of San Rafael, and two grandchildren.
Arrangements are being handled by Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley. The ashes will be scattered at sea. The family prefers memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Marin, 77 Mark Drive, Suite No. 6, San Rafael.
