GLENN A. THAYER

Private services will be held for Glenn Albert Thayer of Corte Madera.

Thayer died Sunday in a San Francisco hospital following a long illness.

A native of Portland, Ore., Thayer had lived in Marin for the past 20 years. He was a retired military man, beginning his career in the Oregon National Guard and then entering the Navy where he reached the rank of lieutenant senior grade. He served in both World War II and Korea.

Following his retirement from the military in 1958, Thayer worked as a civil engineer with the Pacific Gas & Electric Co.

Thayer is survived by his wife Florence, one daughter, Sherry Jelen of Lafayette and his son, George Thayer of Paradise.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the Whistlestop Transportation Fund or the Hospice of Marin.
