John Bennett of Ross Dies

Host of friends of John Bennett, of Ross, were grieved to hear of his death in San Francisco this week after an acute attack of heart trouble.

Stricken on the street, he was removed to a hospital, and after an illness of two or three days, during which the physician in attendance held out no hope for his recovery, he passed away.

He is survived by an invalid widow and two children, Mrs. Willard R. Voorhees and Mrs. Ethel Smith, both of Ross.

For a number of years he had held the position of secretary of the Shriners, and had been a member of the Masonic order for a long time previous to his acceptance of t hat duty.

Bennett, who held a warm place in the hearts of all his acquaintances, was an active member of the Ross Volunteer Fire Department, as well as a Veteran Fireman of San Francisco.

He was the first Town Recorder elected by the Town of Ross after its incorporation.
