FLOYD A. McNEIL
A private service for Floyd A. McNeil of Tiburon, a Marin resident for the past two years, has been held.
Mr. McNeil died Saturday at the Marin Convalescent and Rehabilitation Hospital in Tiburon. He was 93.
Mr. McNeil was born in Kansas. He was a veteran of World War I.
Mr. McNeil, who spent 50 years teaching college, received his undergraduate degree from Kansas State Teachers College. He received a master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., and his doctoral degree in history from the University of Iowa.
Mr. McNeil taught for more than 40 years at Principia College in Elsah, Ill. He moved to Southern California after retiring in the early 1960s and then to Marin two years ago.
He is survived by a daughter, Shirley M. Moore of Redlands; two sons, Donald A. McNeil of Connecticut and Robert B. McNeil of Florida; and three grandchildren. Another son, Douglas McNeil, was a longtime Marin resident who died two years ago.
The family prefers memorial donations to Pricipia College.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the husband of the late Meriem McNeil, and grandfather of Kevin McNeil of Novato, Keith McNeil of Petaluma and Donna Thomas of Connecticut.
