SIMON PERICOU

Simon Pericou of Petaluma, a retired laundry owner, died Wednesday at the age of 91 in a local hospital.

He was born in the Pyrenees, France, and served in the French army for several years before coming to this county in 1907. He operated a French laundry in Richmond before retiring in 1971 and moving to Petaluma.

Surviving are his wife, Alice, of Petaluma; one son, Albert S. Pericou of Petaluma; two daughters, Lucy Valenta of Novato and Yvonne Martens of San Rafael; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at noon at St. James Catholic Church in Petaluma. Entombment will be in Calvary Catholic Mausoleum. The rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday at Sorensen Funeral Home, Petaluma.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was the grandfather of Mrs. Karen Hubbard and Mrs. Nancy Wood, both of Novato, Miss Vicky Martens of San Rafael and Jack Martens of Rohnert Park. He had 3 great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a native of Asson Artes D’Asson Basse, Pyrenees, France.
