EYRICK ‘IKE’ EYNON
Eyrick “Ike” Eynon of Sonoma, former cashier at the Golden Gate Bridge vault, died Friday at a local hospital after a long illness.
He was 77.
He was born in Salt Lake City. He moved to the Bay Area in 1922. He has lived in the city of Sonoma for 15 years. Previously, he lived many years in Greenbrae, San Rafael and Fairfax.
He worked as a cashier in the bridge vault for 28 years and retired about 12 years ago. He was a lifetime member of the Musicians’ Union Local No. 6 in San Francisco. He played the drums with big bands for many years before taking his job with the bridge.
He is survived by his wife, Angela; a son, Richard Eynon of Modesto; and two sisters, Louise Walker of Long Beach and Muriel Jockisch of San Rafael.
No services will be held. At his request, after private cremation, his ashes will be scattered on the Sonoma hills.
The family prefers memorial gifts to Children’s Hospital, San Francisco, or Guide Dogs for the Blind of San Rafael.
