Death Claims Well Known Democratic Figure
George W. Radonich, 53, well known figure in Marin County and Sacramento, where he made his home for many years, passed away very suddenly Tuesday morning, October 8, at Ross General Hospital after an illness of only several hours. His death was caused by a double stroke of paralysis.
Radonich was well known in both state and country Democratic political circles. He had held the position of Chief Doorman at the Democratic Convention since 1908.
He was born on Easter Sunday, 1876, in San Francisco and was a policeman for years in Sacramento where he patrolled Chinatown. Before prohibition, he was a wholesale liquor dealer. On retiring from active business, he maintained a summer home in Fairfax and recently decided to make this town his permanent residence.
About a year ago he was severely injured by a heavy tree limb that fell on him as he was superintending the cutting of a tree in his yard. He suffered a severe fracture of the skull and a fractured leg and was in critical condition for some time.
The body was removed to Sacramento from the parlors of Keaton and Dusel in San Rafael, Wednesday morning. The funeral services will be conducted by Aerie of Eagles, No. 8, Sacramento, of which he was a member.
The deceased is survived by his wife, Christine M. Radonich, a sister, Mrs. Jack H. Schacht of Sacramento and a brother, Clarence Radonich of Sacramento.
