HORACE R. WILLIAMS
Horace (Bill) R. Williams, 69, of Belvedere, a retired businessman, died Thursday at a local hospital after a long illness.
Williams had worked for the Vincent Whitney Co., hardware manufacturers, of Sausalito and founded the Interbay Lumber Co. of Marin in Sausalito in 1953. He was associated with both businesses until his retirement.
Williams served in the Navy during World War II and retired from the Naval Reserve as a lieutenant commander.
Williams was a member of the Meadow Club and the Retired Officers Association and a former member of the Sausalito Rotary Club.
He was a native of Everett, Wash., who graduated from the University of Washington and was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity. He had been a Bay Area resident since 1946 and had lived in Ross and San Rafael before moving to Belvedere.
Surviving are his wife, Harriet Williams of Belvedere; three daughters, Sue Spiliotopousos of Pleasanton, Alameda County, Sally Murphy of San Rafael and Mary Williams of Belvedere; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Monte’s Mission Chapel, San Rafael. Inurnment will be private.
