MARC GIARETTO
A private service for Marc Giaretto of San Francisco, a former Marin a resident and counselor at a treatment center in Marin, was held.
Giaretto was found dead June 12 at Ocean Beach in San Francisco, an apparent drowning victim. He was 27.
He was born in Los Angeles and moved to the Bar Area in 1961. He lived in Concord for several years before moving to Marin in 1970. He lived her for two years and then attended college at the University of California at Santa Barbara where he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.
Giaretto received his teaching credential from the University of California at Berkeley. He was working on a master’s degree.
He worked as a counselor in New York and Santa Barbara. He worked for the past year and a half as a counselor at Sunnyhills, a residential treatment center in San Anselmo.
He was a member of the Sierra Club and Greenpeace.
He is survived by his parents, Nadine Giaretto of Los Angeles and Ralph Giaretto of Oakland; a brother, Mario Giaretto of San Francisco; and a sister, Bellann Lux of San Francisco.
The family prefers memorial donations to the Abalone Alliance or Greenpeace.
