Woman Killed In Auto Accident
An automobile accident resulting in the death of a woman and injury of four other persons occurred Sunday night on the State Highway at Manzanita, when a machine registered in the name of John D. Kruse, a Fort Barry soldier, collided with another machine driven by A. H. Marshall of Mill Valley.
Mrs. A. J. Andrews, of 1556 Jackson street, San Francisco, was fatally hurt, and died a few minutes after arrival at the Cottage Hospital, despite the heroic efforts of Dr. J. H. Kuser to save her.
Bert McMinnie, of Mill Valley, is still confined to the hospital and is suffering from concussion of the brain, the result of which is still in doubt.
Russell Andrews, the 15-year-old son of the dead woman; Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Marshal and Miss Hazel Tinnes, the latter three of Mill Valley, were severely bruised and lacerated, but with the exception of McMinnie, all left the hospital the day following the accident.
It developed in the investigation that Kruse, the owner of the car, at the time of the accident, was at the barracks, the machine having been driven and occupied by three or four of his friends. The soldier boys did everything possible to aid the injured people, taking them first to Sausalito, where they were given first aid by Dr. J. J. Spottiswood, of Mill Valley, and then removed to the Cottage Hospital.
