RUTH SCHWARTZ
Ruth Levin Schwartz, a San Rafael artist, died this morning after a short illness. She was 62.
A native of Cleveland, Mrs. Schwartz studied at the Cleveland Institute of Art before moving to Marin County 18 years ago.
Her work has been exhibited in the area including shows at the Picture Palace Gallery in Petaluma and the Redwood Bank in San Rafael. She also taught painting in her home.
She was a member of the Marin Society of Artists, the Western Society of Artists, the Terra Linda Art Association and the North Bay Artists.
Mrs. Schwartz is survived by her husband Julius; two daughters, Gail Fellman of Alamo and Betsi Johns of Healdsburg; one sister, Sylvia Levin of Florida; two brothers, Jack Levin or Cleveland and Sydney Levin of Larkspur and three grandchildren.
A funeral service is scheduled for noon Wednesday at the Sinai Memorial Chapel in San Francisco. The family will be in mourning at Mrs. Schwartz’s brother’s home in Larkspur. Visitors are welcome.
The family prefers memorial donations to your favorite charity.
