‘Josie’ McConalogue
Retired from military

Josephine “Josie” McConalogue of Fairfax, a retired military transport stewardess who worked as a babysitter to the age of 89, died Tuesday, March 24, 1992, at the McGarr House, a senior citizens complex in San Anselmo.

She was 99.

Mrs. McConalogue retired after 10 years working as a stewardess with the military transport planes out of Fort Mason in San Francisco. After World War II, she traveled to Japan, Germany and other countries.

She worked as a babysitter for the Bristol Agency in San Francisco. Mrs. McConalogue also managed large apartment houses in the city.

She was born in Petaluma and raised on a ranch near Two Rock.

Mrs. McConalogue lived most of her life in San Francisco and became a Marin resident more than a decade ago.

She was a member of the Blind Adults of Marin.

Mrs. McConalogue is survived by a daughter, Phyllis Ostrander of San Anselmo, three grandchildren and fie great-grandchildren.

Her husband, Philip E. McConalogue, died earlier.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at McGarr House in San Anselmo.

Burial will be in Olivet Memorial Park in Colma.

Her family suggests memorial contributions to a favorite charity.

Arrangements are by Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.

A death notice in the March 25 paper adds that she was the grandmother of Philip and Robert Ostrander and Sherri Ott.
