Helmut Faltin

Helmut Faltin, a San Anselmo resident, died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was 86.

A native of Germany, Faltin came to the United States in 1913 and moved to San Francisco. He moved to Marin about 10 years ago and lived in Woodacre and Mill Valley for three years before relocating in Santa Cruz. He returned to Marin in February to be near his family.

Faltin was a tile contractor and owner of the Granada Tile Co. in San Francisco for 51 years. He was a former president of the Haight-Ashbury Lions Club.

Faltin is survived by four daughters, Dorothea Schultz of San Anselmo, Anita Bovaird of Novato, Carolyn Bradley of San Francisco and Roberta Heyman of Lafayette, and 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial services are being planned.
