Octogenarian Passes Away
William H. Box, a retired businessman for the past twenty years, quietly passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. T. B. Lawrence on Thursday. Funeral services will be held in San Francisco today, the interment being private.
Mr. Box was a native of Providence, Rhode Island, within a few months of begin ninety years of age. He was the husband of Lizzie Davis Box, father of Thomas Allen Box, secretary of the National Council of Defense of North Dakota, William Box of Baker City, Oregon, Mrs. Hart Wood of San Francisco and Mrs. Alice Box and Mrs. W. B. Lawrence of Sausalito, and grandfather of Capt. T. B. Lawrence, U. S. A. He was a thirty-second degree Mason.
He was a devoted husband and a kind and indulgent father and to his friends the soul of fellowship. But the greatest of all was, he was a man. His cheerful, helpful life, his devotion to his wife and family and kindness to everybody will long linger as a fragrant memory in the home which his presence brightened and which death has now darkened.
