Ptomaine Poison Causes Death
The untimely death last Monday of Moritz Koppel, well known and highly respected by men in the business circles of San Francisco, was a severe shock to his hosts of friends.
Having recovered sufficiently from a serious illness to plan upon returning to his office, he was seized suddenly with an attack of ptomaine poisoning, from which, despite the efforts of Dr. Harry Hund, he passed away.
The second son of the late Baron and Baroness Koppel, of Germany, the deceased had been in California 9 years. For more than a year of that time he had resided with his family at Belle and Grand avenues.
He was associated with G. W. McNear & Company in San Francisco and was rated as one of the keenest grain and feed experts in the city. He was 49 years of age, and is survived by a sorrowing widow, Mrs. Florence Koppel, and two minor children, Irene and Adelbert Koppel. The funeral, under the direction of the F. E. Sawyer Company, will be held today.
The funeral will take place tomorrow, with services at the home at 11:30 o’clock.
