Funeral for retired chemistry teacher George F. Nelson Sr., 86, of Belvedere was held today at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, San Rafael.
Nelson died Sunday at a local rest home after an illness of nearly five years. He moved to Marin from Berkeley five years ago, staying with a granddaughter, Mrs. Georgia Barnes at 104 Bella Vista Avenue, prior to moving into the rest home.
He taught at University of California in Berkeley for 20 years prior to retirement. He was a native of Washington, D.C.
He also leaves a son, George F. Nelson Jr. of Santa Cruz.
