JED W. BURNS

Memorial services for Jed W. Burns, 69, a 17-year resident of Tiburon, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley.

He died on Sunday at a local hospital after a long illness.

A native of Hutchinson, Kan., he owned a feed and grain dealership in San Francisco for the past 23 years.

He originally started working in the feed and grain business in Southern California in 1934. He moved to Northern California in 1944 and then opened his own business, Jed W. Burns Inc., in 1967.

Before coming to California, he had worked with his father, an owner of flour mills in Kansas.

He was a member of the World Trade Club and the Merchant Exchange, both in San Francisco.

Burns is survived by his wife, Ruth D. Burns of Tiburon; a daughter, Susan Glenn of Rogue River, Ore.; a sister, Margaret Fitz Gerald of Midland, Texas; and two grandchildren.

The family prefers memorial gifts to the Marin Cancer Society or Hospice of Marin.
