Sister VIRGINIA OLSEN
Sister Virginia Olsen, a nun at Dominican College in San Rafael, died this morning after a long illness. She was 95.
A native of San Francisco, Sister Virginia became a Dominican nun in 1913. Two older sisters and one brother had already entered the Dominican order.
She taught elementary school 16 years but was forced by growing deafness to find other work. She served as librarian and then registrar of Dominican Upper School in San Rafael until her retirement in 1947.
Following her retirement, forced by illness, she stayed first at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Stockton and then the Lourdes Infirmary at the Dominican convent. She had been at the convent for 26 years at the time of her death.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
The rosary will be recited at the Dominican Convent Chapel Tuesday evening at 7:30. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m.
