Sausalito Man Instantly Killed

Manuel Mancebo, oiler on the Northwestern Pacific ferryboat San Pablo, was instantly killed Monday night while at work when he was struck by a flying crankpin which crushed his skull.

The accident happened on the 9:20 trip as the boat was opposite Alcatraz Island. Mancebo was alone when the accident occurred, a fellow employee finding the body shortly afterwards. A physician aboard the boat, called immediately, said that death must have been instantaneous.

This is the fourth visit of death to the Mancebo family in Sausalito, commencing with the unfortunate death of John Mancebo, brother of the deceased, about three months ago. A few weeks later Mrs. John Mancebo’s mother passed away, and just recently death claimed the father of the two boys.

Manuel Mancebo was 32 years of age and unmarried. He had resided in Sausalito all his life and was a well known and popular young man.
