David McCurdy Dies In Tragic Accident

Victim of a tragic accident, David McCurdy, employed by the Marin Municipal Water District, met death last Saturday at Alpine Dam above Fairfax while removing some heavy timbers used as a bunker during the construction work on the dam.

McCurdy was in charge of a gang of men and was attempting to loosen one of the timbers from the bank so that it could be drawn away by an auto truck. One end of the timber gave way suddenly and swung, striking McCurdy on the back of the head. Death was instantaneous.

He had been employed at Alpine Lake for some time and held a responsible position. He comes of a highly respected and pioneer Marin county family. For many years in his early youth he resided with father and mother, brothers and sisters in Bolinas.

He is survived by a widow, Mrs. May McCauley-McCurdy, and a son, Edward McCurdy, aged 2 years. He was the son of Mrs. Addie and the late Samuel McCurdy, and the brother of Alex and Hugh McCurdy, Mrs. Fred Bullock, Mrs. E. R. Strain, Mrs. Arthur Bourne and Mrs. Edward Soule.

The funeral, held Tuesday, with burial under the direction of F. E. Sawyer Company, was one of the largest here of recent months, more than fifty machines forming the cortege which followed the remains to Mt. Olivet cemetery. The deceased was 41 years of age.
