WALLACE B. LEWIS
Private family graveside services will be held Monday in Colma for Wallace B. Lewis of Mill Valley. a Marin County resident for four or five years.
He died Thursday at a local convalescent hospital after a long illness. He was 98.
A native of New Quay, Cornwall, England, he came to San Francisco in 1907, where he had lived most of his life.
He was a carpenter for almost 60 years. He last worked for Jack & Irvine Co. in San Francisco before retiring in 1972.
His wife, Gertrude Lewis, died in 1968.
He had lived in San Rafael, Corte Madera and Mill Valley.
He was a member of the Carpenters Union of San Francisco. He was one of the original members of the union in 1907, then known as the Amalgamated Carpenters. He also was a member of the Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Tiburon.
He is survived by a son, George Lewis of Santa Rosa; a daughter, Marian Quick of Corte Madera; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 9 at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Tiburon.
Arrangements are being handled by Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley. The family prefers memorial gifts to the Shepherd of the Hills building fund.
