Waters Claim Two At Tennessee Cove
Search is being made in the waters off Tennessee Cove for the bodies of G. W. Madeley, 3861 14th avenue, Oakland, and 10-year-old Leola Taylor, his niece, of Sacramento, who were drowned last Sunday while on a picnic party.
According to the reports of the accident, the little girl and a companion of the same age were washed from the shore by a large wave. Madeley, although unable to swim, saved one girl and then attempted without success to rescue Leola. In the struggle to reach the second child he was himself washed off his feet, and in sight of his wife, he sank.
Madeley was employed as an auditor at the Trojan Powder Works in Oakland.
