GEORGE A. STEVENSON

The funeral for George A. Stevenson, longtime Fairfax business owner, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.

Stevenson, 78, died Saturday in a local hospital after a lengthy illness.

Born in San Francisco, he worked 21 years in the San Francisco Post Office, then moved to Marin about 33 years ago. For 25 years he owned and operated the Tamalpais Venetian Blind shop in Fairfax, until he retired a few years ago.

He is survived by his wife, Madeline Stevenson of the home; a daughter, Natalie C. Daneri of King’s Beach, Placer County, and a sister, Edna Thorpe of Windsor.

Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, San Rafael.

Memorial gifts are preferred to the Lung Association of the Redwood Empire, P. O. Box 1482, Santa Rosa, CA, 95403, or any favorite charity.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Tuesday after 9 a.m.

A Death Notice in the same paper adds that he was also the brother of the late Fred Stevenson and Mable Leydecker.
