ONDINA A. HARDY
A memorial service will be held for Ondina Aurora Hardy at 8 p.m. Thursday at Russell and Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley.
Miss Hardy died Saturday after being hurt in a boat collision on the Mokellumne River near Lodi. She was 24.
A native of Kentucky, Miss Hardy came to Marin County with her family in 1970 and lived in Terra Linda before moving to her own apartment in Novato.
She worked for Warren Lockhart Productions, a film company in Novato.
She was a graduate of Terra Linda High School in 1973 and was the senior class president there. She also won several Lions Club speech contests while in high school.
Miss Hardy learned Mandarin Chinese at the Institute of Foreign Languages in Monterey and studied for a time in Taiwan. She also spoke French and Italian and held a job as an interpreter for a newspaper in Guam.
She was a member of the San Francisco Ski Club.
Survivors include her mother, Ornella Roggli of Novato; step-father, Jon Roggli of Novato; her father, Eugene Hardy of Texas; a brother, Ostin Hardy of Alameda; and a sister, Orietta Hardy Sayles of Nebraska.
The family prefers that contributions be made in Miss Hardy’s name to the donor’s favorite charity.
