Death Comes For Major Christensen
Major Charles Christensen was stricken suddenly with death last night as he sat on the porch of his home on Center street.
He was nearing the age of 83 years, but had been in excellent health up to the last.
Major Christensen was one of the oldest insurance men on the Pacific Coast. For many years he was the Pacific Coast agent of the American Central Insurance Company of St. Louis, and of the St. Paul Fire and Marine Insurance Company.
At the outbreak of the Civil War he enlisted for service with the Wisconsin troops. At the close of the war he held the rank of major. He was a member of the firm here of Wood-Christensen & Company for many years. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and took an earnest and active interest in its fraternal work.
Mrs. Christensen passed away several years ago. The deceased is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Marian Shevky of San Francisco.
The funeral will be held at 11:30 tomorrow, with services at the home. Dr. Lynn T. White will officiate. The remains will be removed to Cypress Lawn cemetery by the F. E. Sawyer Company.
