Henry Jorgensen
Dies in Hospital
Death called for Henry Jorgensen yesterday, and it can be said with all truth that he is among those who gave their lives in the service of his country – the hero dead.
Resigning his position in the local postoffice, he went to Camp Lewis to train for overseas service. Fate decided that he should remain there. At that camp he contracted a severe cold, which developed in time to a serious affliction of the throat. At the close of the war he returned to San Rafael. Bravely he fought the encroachment of the disease, remaining at his employment when others would have abandoned hope.
Some weeks ago he went to Lane Hospital in San Francisco for treatment. He passed away shortly after an operation.
He is survived by his father, P. W. Jorgensen; his sisters, Mrs. W. Bell, Mrs. G. Rowe, Mrs. C. Thomas and Ada Jorgensen, and a brother, Harold Jorgensen. He was 31 years of age.
Funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in the Odd Fellows Hall, with the rites performed by the lodge, of which he was a member. He was a member also of San Rafael Aerie No. 256, Fraternal Order of Eagles. The remains are now at the home on D street. The body will be removed following the services to Cypress Lawn cemetery by the F. E. Sawyer Company for cremation.
