MAURICE M. GLAZER

A memorial service for Maurice M. Glazer of Santa Rosa, a former Marin resident and longtime dentist in the county, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation in Santa Rosa.

Glazer died Tuesday at his home following a lengthy illness. He was 86.

He was born in Michigan and moved to California as a teenager. He lived in Oakland and San Francisco before moving to Marin about 1950.

Glazer graduated in 1917 from the dental school at the University of California at San Francisco. He was a regimental dental surgeon with the 91st Division during World War I.

He practiced dentistry in the Bay Area for 55 years.

He and his wife, Frieda, built the first medical-dental building in Belvedere.

Following his retirement in 1966, the couple spent 11 years traveling in the United States and Mexico in their trailer. Glazier provided free dental care to people in many areas of the country during his travels.

The couple moved to Santa Rosa a few years ago. Besides his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Nancy Cummings of Honolulu, Hawaii and Doris Lind of Novato; a stepson, Harry A. Lucas of Korea; a sister, Anne Grossman of Greenbrae; eight grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He was a member of the American Legion California Post 234, Order of Masons of Fidelity Lodge No. 120 for 50 years, past president of the San Francisco Optimists Club, and a member of the San Francisco Yacht Club. He also was a lifelong member of the California Dental Society of Northern California.

The family prefers memorial contributions to the Church of the Incarnation or Kaumakapili Church Free Dental Clinic, 766 North King St., Honolulu, Hawaii.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Neptune Society.
