VIRGINIA PEDERSEN
Virginia Mae Pedersen of Fairfax, a retired nurse who worked many years at Marin General Hospital, died Monday at a local hospital after collapsing at her home. She was 67.
Mrs. Pedersen was born in Charleston, S.C., and was educated at the College of Charleston and the University of Virginia, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority.
Mrs. Pedersen had lived in Marin County 28 years. She worked at Marin General in managerial positions for 20 years, retiring in 1973. While at Marin General, she served as nursing office assistant, executive housekeeper and manager of the hospital laundry.
In 1974 Mrs. Pedersen ran unsuccessfully for the Marin Hospital District board.
Her husband, Jorgen Pedersen, died about three years ago.
She is survived by three (sic) sons, Walter Burkett of Florida and Karl, Kristian and George Pedersen, all of Fairfax, and two daughters, Virginia Nixon of Texas and Carolyn Pedersen of San Francisco.
Private family services were held at Chapel of the Hills in San Anselmo.
