Mrs. Helen Brown, Matron at County Hospital Summoned

Mrs. Helen Eldridge Brown, wife of Robt. S. Brown, superintendent of the Marin County Hospital, passed away early last Saturday morning following an illness of several months. Death came at her home on the hospital grounds where the family have resided a number of years, and where she was matron.

Mrs. Brown took a great interest in affairs of the hospital, and she was loved by all of the patience and attendants for her gentle and unselfish manner.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon from Mounts funeral parlors, Petaluma, with Rev. D. Lloyd Morgan, of the Christian Church, presiding. Interment was in the family plot at Cypress Hill Cemetery, Petaluma.

Mrs. Brown was a native of Greenville, Ind., and 69 years of age. Her father, Dr. C. R. Eldridge, was a surgeon in the Civil War.

Mr. and Mrs. Brown were married 27 years ago. They spent a number of years in Petaluma, and later settled on a ranch at Novato.

Five years ago, Mr. Brown received the appointment of superintendent at the Marin County Hospital, and Mrs. Brown, at the same time, assumed the duties as matron of the institution.

Surviving Mrs. Brown, besides her husband, is a half brother, Claude Lukenbill, Kentucky; an aunt, Mrs. Harriet A. Brown (her mother’s sister) of Petaluma, and an uncle, Harry A. Scott of Santa Rosa.
