LYMAN VAN ANDA
A private service for Lyman Van Anda, 54, of Sausalito, will be held at Russell & Gooch Funeral Chapel in Mill Valley.
He died Sunday night after being hit by a car near the Waldo Point Harbor north of Sausalito, where he lived.
A native of Texas, he spent much of his life in Georgia. He moved to Mill Valley in the early 1950s and later settled in the houseboat community in 1964.
Van Anda was a sculptor. He got his artistic training in Paris and Italy. He also had operated heavy equipment.
He is survived by his former wife, Elizabeth Van Anda of Sausalito; two daughters, Gretchen McLaughlin of South San Francisco and Maria Van Anda of Sausalito; a son, Jan Van Anda of Sausalito; and his mother, Mary Van Anda of Mill Valley.
A quiet hour will be held at the funeral home at 8 p.m. Thursday. A memorial service at the waterfront is pending.
