Former History Instructor Killed

Dr. John E. Wishart, aged 74, who from 1923 to 1927, was an instructor in church history at the Theological Seminary, in San Anselmo, was fatally injured in an automobile accident in Pasadena last Monday.

Police of the southern city believe that his death was due to a hit and run driver. Dr. Wishart was found in a parkway and he died at Huntington Hospital three hours later. An investigation is now underway.

Dr. Wishart leaves his wife, two brothers, Dr. Charles Wishart, president of Wooster College, and Dr. Wil Wishart; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Biddle of Berkeley. He was a United Presbyterian minister, and had traveled extensively.

He taught in a seminary in Syria for some time and while in Europe took advanced work in the University of Berlin, acting there as pastor of the American Church of Berlin. He was a native of New Athens, Ohio, and received his early education at Monmouth College, taking advanced studies at Allegheny Theological Seminary, and the University of Chicago.
