ELIZABETH BOYD
Pioneer family

In 1946, Elizabeth “Betty” Boyd was one of the first women working on Montgomery Street in the securities business.

She was a sales representative with the West Coast office of the Investment Department of Harris Trust and Savings Bank of Chicago, selling tax-exempt bonds, primarily to institutional investors. She retired in 1965.

Ms. Boyd died Sept. 1 at 91.

Private memorial services were held at Mount Tamalpais Cemetery.

She lived in San Rafael and graduated from the University of California at Berkeley where she belonged to Kappa Alpha Theta sorority.

During World War II, she served in the U.S. Coast Guard Port Security Force.

She was a charter member of the Tamalpais Trail Riders. She also volunteered for organizations including the Terwilliger Nature Education Center and the Audubon Canyon Ranch. She was an honorary member of the Marin Yacht Club.

She is a descendant of a pioneer Marin County family. Her father, Thomas Patrick Boyd, was district attorney at the turn of the century. Her late brother, Thomas P. Boyd, was a Marian County attorney.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
