MARGARET C. McGOVERN
Margaret C. McGovern died in her Novato home early this morning after a long illness. She was 83.
A native of San Francisco, she was a housewife married to the late Maxwell Bond Sr. who died in 1961.
She was a past grand regent of the Catholic Daughters of America and was a charter member of Our Lady of Miracles.
She is survived by her husband John J. McGovern; one son, Maxwell Bond Jr. of Novato; six stepsons, Vincent McGovern and William McGovern of Novato; Jack McGovern of Burlingame, Patrick McGovern of Gilroy, James McGovern of Guerneville, and Terry McGovern of Petaluma; a daughter, Margaret “Peggy” Alcorn of Novato; four step-daughters, Sally DeMateo of Concord, Nancy Glickman of San Francisco, Delores Lunde of Sonora, and Katherine C. Valensuela of Martinez; 37 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Loretto Church in Novato and she will be buried in Holy Cross Cemetery.
The Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.
