Aged Pioneer Passes Away At Her Home Here

Mrs. John Brown, one of the pioneer women of Sonoma county and a resident of San Rafael for the past four years, died at her late home here, last Friday following a brief illness. She had been active and alert within a few days of her death and on the previous Friday attended, with relatives, the May Day festival in Kentfield. When death called the aged woman was approaching her 81st year, 50 of which had been spent at Duncan’s Mills, Sonoma county, where she settled after spending a few years at Bodega in the 60’s.

She leaves one son and four daughters to mourn her passing. They are Miss Mary Clasby of San Rafael, Mr. Michael Clasby of Oakland, Mrs. Kathryn Caughey, Mrs. J. J. Keating and Mrs. J. M. Putnam all of San Rafael.

The funeral was held Monday morning at 9:30 under the direction of the Sawyer Company of this city and mass was said by Rev. Father McLaughlin at St. Raphael’s church. Interment was at Mt. Olivet cemetery.
