WILLIAM P. HOOKS
William Patrick Hooks, a retired operating engineer, died in his Novato home Monday night. He was 66.
A native of Iowa, he came to California about 40 years ago and settled in Novato 37 years ago.
He was a retired operating engineer who drove heavy equipment at large construction projects in Northern California.
Hooks was a member of the SAM 27, a model airplane club in Marin County.
He is survived by his wife, Irene Hooks of Novato; two daughters, Betty Cooper of Petaluma and Barbara Garcia of Placentia, Orange County; a sister, Marian Clark of Iowa; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are pending at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.

A memorial service will be held for William P. Hooks, a longtime Novato resident, at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Keaton’s Chapel of Marin in Novato.
Hooks died at home Monday. He was 65.
A native of Iowa, he lived in Novato for 30 years.
He was a retired operating engineer and drove heavy construction equipment on large construction projects in Northern California. He was employed by the Guy F. Atkinson Construction Co. when he retired.
He was a member of SAM 27, a model airplane club in California, the Marin County Soaring Society, and the Operating Engineers Union, Local No. 3.
Survivors include his wife, Irene Hooks of Novato; two daughters, Barbara Garcia of Placentia, Orange County, and Betty Cooper of Petaluma; a sister, Marian Clark of Iowa; and seven grandchildren.
Cremation was private. The family prefers donations to the donors’ favorite charities.
