JASPER K. ELY
A funeral service for Jasper K. Ely, 82, of Novato, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Central Valley, Shasta County.
Ely died Thursday at a local hospital.
Ely had worked on the building of Shasta Dam and had worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He had been a resident of the Redding area for about 45 years before moving to Novato.
He was a native of Texas and had been a veteran of World War I.
Surviving are his wife, Lucinda; four daughters, Geneva Markovich and Gloria Gibson, both of Redding, Shasta County, Charlotte Pancake of Helena, Mont., and Cloys Jennings of Novato; three sons, Nathan Ely of Crescent City, Del Norte County, Calvin Ely of San Diego and jay Ely of Maryland; a sister, Elva Pruett of Missouri; and 19 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Burial will be at Lawncrest Memorial Lawn, Redding.
