FRANCES D. WOLCOTT
A private funeral for Frances Deal Wolcott, 64, of Larkspur, will be held by the Neptune Society. Mrs. Wolcott died Friday evening in a local hospital of a heart attack.
Mrs. Wolcott was born in Wichita, Kan. She served in the Women’s Army Corps during World War II, and was stationed in Idaho and California as a sheet metal worker. She had lived in Marin since about 1946.
Mrs. Wolcott worked as a waitress in many Marin restaurants, including the Woodlands in Kentfield and San Rafael Joe’s. She had worked for the past 16 years at the Shoreline Coffee Shop in Tamalpais Valley.
She was a member of Bartenders and Culinary Workers Local 126 of San Rafael.
Mrs. Wolcott spent a great deal of her time counseling terminally ill young women with cancer in area hospitals.
She is survived by two sisters, Treva Fisher of Petaluma and Pearl Trimble of Belleville, Ill., and her friend and companion of 25 years, Margery (Jerry) Mecabe.
Her family asked that memorial gifts go to the American Cancer Society, Heart Association, Hospice of Marin or a favorite charity.
