WILLIAM W. WHEELER
A funeral service for William W. Wheeler, 66, of Novato, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Presbyterian Church of Novato, 710 Wilson Ave.
Wheeler, a retired vice president of Fireman’s Fund Insurance Cos. in San Francisco, died Tuesday in an automobile accident in Corte Madera.
He had worked for the insurance company for 23 years and retired in March 1978.
Wheeler was a native of Oshkosh, Wis., and graduated from the University of Wisconsin. He served in the Army during World War II, including duty in Europe.
Before joining Fireman’s Fund, he had worded for Sentry Insurance Co. in the Midwest for 16 years.
He officiated at high school and college football and basketball games.
He had been a resident of Marin for 12 years.
Wheeler was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Novato, the Squaws and Paws Square Dance Club and Sons in Retirement.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Wheeler of Novato; two sons, Jack R. Wheeler of Illinois and Capt. Thomas R. Wheeler of the U.S. Air Force; a sister, Helen W. Johnson of Lake San Marcos, San Diego County; and a granddaughter.
Burial will be private. The family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the William W. Wheeler Memorial Fund in care of his church.
Friends may call at the Redwood Chapel Funeral Home, Novato, between 7 and 9 tonight.
