RICHARD C. WERNICK
Passed away peacefully at his home on Election Day, November 7, 2000. He was 75 years old. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie H. Wernick and his three sons, Richard W. of Novato, Bruce M. of Belmont, and Kenneth C. of Sunnyvale. His three loving daughters-in-law, Susan, Janettte, and Hwa Ken Chan also survive him. His five grandchildren, Richard Stacy, Warren, Benjamin, Bradley and Emily will miss their "Grandpa" very much. His two older sisters further survive Mr. Wernick. They are Catherine Curley of Santa Barbara and Betty Lane of San Diego.
Richard Wernick was a Bay Area native, having been born in San Mateo and raised in Burlingame. A veteran of World War II, he served in the Army infantry in Europe. A graduate of economics from Stanford University in 1949, Mr. Wernick went on to a successful career in the insurance industry. He retired in 1987 as an Assistant Vice-President for Fireman's Fund Insurance Co., where he spent most of his career. In retirement, he spent time volunteering as an English language teacher for non-English speaking adults and also volunteered preparing tax returns for senior citizens.
Final arrangements have been made by the Neptune Society of Northern California. A Memorial Service is pending at this time. Either Bruce Wernick at (650) 592-6116 or Rick Wernick at (414) 892-9261 can be contacted for further details. The family would prefer that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
