Body of Man Found on Electric Rail
An unidentified man, aged about 25 years, met death about 1:30 Saturday morning on the third rail at the Union depot of the Northwestern Pacific railroad. The body was found shortly afterwards by Jack Walsh, towerman, and removed to the morgue by Coroner F. Ray Keaton. Despite the efforts of the Coroner to find friends or relatives of the dead man, the body still remains unidentified.
There was a 1-cent piece in the pocket of the rousers, the word “Sandakan” tattooed on the right arm with the initials “B. N. B.” beneath it, and on the left arm was tattooed a cross. Coroner Keaton is of the opinion that the dead man was a sailor. His clothing was well worn, as were his shoes, which had scarcely any soles. Both legs were badly burned where they came in contact with the electric current. – Journal.
